SUBSTANCE: method comprises the casting of hollow ingots by electroslag remelting with 740×in.480×2600±50 mm, boring and refacing in billet ingots with size of 720×in.520×3200±50 mm, heating the billet ingots in reheat furnaces to the temperature of 1260-1270°C, delivery of them into ingot trolley, blowing with compressed air or inert gas, supply inside of billet ingots from two ends of lubricant with mass 2000-2500 g in the form of mixture of graphite with sodium chloride in a ratio of 50/50, transportation of hollow billet ingots to the upstream side of the Pilger mill, rolling at Pilger mill into stock with size 550×30×10300-10700 mm, cutting of process wastes: bare ends and pilger heads by hot cutting saw, straightening on a six-roll straightening machine to the curvature of not more than 6.0 mm on the tube stock length, austenitizing, tube stock cutting into two pipes of equal length, mechanical treatment-boring and turning of hot-rolled pipe stock with size 550×30×5150-5350 mm into commercial pipes with size 530×8-12×5150-5350 mm.
EFFECT: reduction of metal consumption in pipes production.
