FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the thin film technology for multiferroics, namely to preparation of transparent bismuth ferrite nanoscale films with multiferroic properties at room temperature as the Curie temperature of BiFeO3 is 830°C, and the antiferromagnetic transition temperature is 370°C, and it can be used for production of magnetooptical data recording, storage and processing devices. In accordance with the claimed method, bismuth abietate and iron abietate mixture solution in an organic solvent with a concentration of 0.05-1.5 mg/g at equimolar ratio, is applied to a substrate, such as glass substrate, dried, heated up to the firing temperature and calcined at 500-600°C. Iron (III) and bismuth (III) abietates are prepared by reacting bismuth and iron nitrates with abietic acid in the melt.

EFFECT: reduced number of reagents used, excluded application of highly aggressive and carcinogenic substances, while maintaining purity and nanosizes of the produced films.
