SUBSTANCE: device includes an image capturing unit adapted to use the first mode and the second mode, and a controller. The controller is adapted to read the first line in the first mode and the second line in the second mode. The first line is read in the first mode during the first readout period, the second line is read in the second mode during the second readout period. During the third readout period, the second line is read in the mode different from the second mode. The readout periods from the first through the third one have the same length.
