FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method of generating and processing a probing laser signal is based on generation of non-equidistant laser radiation pulses, filtration of the received signal, calculation of mutual correlation function of the received signal and the reference signal. Reference signal is generated as a sum of shifted relative to each other on the time axis sequences of heteropolar pulses. As per the level of a signal produced from calculating the mutual correlation function a decision is taken on detection of an object in the scanned space. As per the maximum difference of neighbouring values of the mutual correlation function found is the function maximum value, as per the time delay of which calculated is the range to the object, thereby forming the reference signal set is the relative shift of sequences equal to the pulse duration value.

EFFECT: higher sensitivity and noise-immunity of an optical system of measuring range and locating mobile objects.
