FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: it includes a gyrocompass mode for initial driving the main axis of the directional gyroscope to the meridian plane. After driving the main axis of the directional gyroscope to the meridian plane and fixing the azimuth value from the directional angle sensor, the gyrocompass mode is re-switched to bring the main axis of the directional gyroscope to the direction opposite to initial driving . Then the position is determined, in which the driving speed is zero, and the azimuth value determination is performed according to the expression: where A1 - the azimuth value after initial driving the main axis of the directional gyroscope to the meridian plane, A2 - the value of the directional angle, at which the speed driving the main axis of the directional gyroscope to the direction opposite to initial bringing is zero, wherein the value of the directional angle A2 - close to the initial azimuth value A1.
EFFECT: improving the accuracy and reducing the azimuth determining time.
