Vehicle comprises fuel system (31) with fuel tank (32) and small tank (30), diagnostics module with check orifice (56), pressure pickup (54), pressure control valve (58), pump (52) and controller. Diagnostics module communicates fuel system with atmosphere to allow the first configuration wherein pressure control valve (58) stays at first position for communication of small tank (30) with idle (52) and orifice (56). Diagnostics module connects fuel system with atmosphere to make second configuration wherein pressure control valve (58) stays at first position to communicate small tank (30) and atmosphere with running pump (52). Diagnostics module connected fuel system with atmosphere to make third configuration wherein pressure control valve (58) stays at first position to communicated small tank (30) and atmosphere with idle pump (52). Note here that opening (56) allows independent flow from small tank (30) to atmosphere as compared with control valve when module stays at second and third positions. Controller measures check pressure at opening (56) to output dynamically stable threshold pressure, to isolate fuel system at low pressure, to measure several pressures in the system and to output the code in response to comparison of said several pressures with dynamically stable threshold pressure. Invention covers also the versions of vehicle implementation.
