FIELD: pharmacology.
SUBSTANCE: method for arachidonic acid production includes alkaline hydrolysis of marine red algae of Gracilaria genus, hydrolyzate acidification, removal of saturated fatty acids as Li salts, concentration of arachidonic acid by high performance liquid chromatography on the reverse C-18 phase using the ethanol-water elution system at a ratio of 8.0:(1.0-2.5) v/v.
EFFECT: method provides preparation of arachidonic acid in high yield and purity, allowing its use in biochemical, medical and dietetic studies.
