FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: adjustable torque converter contains a body filled with a working fluid, pump and turbine wheels placed in it, and a reactor. The pump and turbine wheels are rigidly connected to the drive and driven shafts. The torque converter is equipped with a valve-inductor electric drive and a control system consisting of a control unit, angular velocity sensors and a power conversion unit. The angular velocity sensors are mounted on the drive shaft and the driven shaft. The valve-inductor electric drive is made in the form of a stator, mounted on the outer surface of the converter body and connected to the power conversion unit. The turbine wheel is equipped with a package of sheet magnetically soft material to interact with the stator through a rotating electromagnetic field.
EFFECT: mechanical losses are reduced.
