FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engine control system. Methods for fuel system operation configured to supply gaseous fuel to the engine, are proposed. According to the invention, while the engine is stopped, diagnostic procedures can be performed to identify leaks or breaches in the fuel system on the basis of, for example, changes in pressure sensor readings in the fuel tank and fuel distribution guide. When the engine is subsequently restarted, the preliminary pumping of the fuel distribution guide is regulated or not is performed depending on the presence of fuel system leakage.
EFFECT: invention can improve motor starting performance when operating on gaseous fuels and more accurately indicate fuel system deterioration.
