FIELD: aviation.

SUBSTANCE: firefighting apparatus for fire fighting from a helicopter comprises a tank unit including a foam tank and water tank attaching to the helicopter. The water tank is configured to receive foam from the foam tank which then forms a liquid flame retardant in the water tank after being mixed with water. The pump is driven by an electric motor and comprises an air valve, wherein the flame retardant and the air are sucked at the suction end of the pump and are compressed by the pump. A targetable barrel is connected to the pump with a stack, the barrel comprises a tip at the distal end of the barrel, from which the pressurized air and fire retardant are sprayed towards the target. The power supply unit is fixed to one end of the unit tank and a gun installation is mounted to the opposite side of the tank unit.

EFFECT: optimisation of the helicopter flying qualities and fire extinguishing system operation.
