FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: discloses a method (300) of data demodulation performed by the user equipment (UE). User equipment UE is adapted to use different pilot demodulation and demodulating said pilot signals include the common pilot signals and additional pilot signals for data demodulation. The method comprises the steps of: receiving (301) a message instructing the node from the radio control channel downlink. Ordering said message instructs the user equipment UE to use as additional pilot signals and common pilot signals; transmitting (302) an acknowledgment message ACK to said radio network node over the control channel of the uplink in response to receiving mentioned message ordering; receiving (303) data from mentioned node via the data radio downlink; demodulating (304) the received data using the additional pilot signals in addition to the common pilot signals. The method is characterized in that in the case where decoding (305) said received data, demodulated by the use of additional pilot signals in addition to the common pilot signal is unsuccessful, demodulating (307) said received data using only the common pilot signals.
