FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of improving digital colour images consists of operations: getting the original RGB image, filtering the RGB image noise, correcting the global contrast of the RGB image, extracting the luminance component from the RGB components from the colour image, adjusting the image in the brightness channel using the Multi Scale Retinex technology (MSR), convert the result of the image correction to the RGB colour system; when performing the image correction in the MSR operation, block filtering is performed, then a minimum and maximum values of the result of the MSR operation are recursively determined, followed by normalization of the brightness values of the entire image to a predetermined range; a weighted summation of the luminance values of each pixel of the contrasted image and the normalized image of the MSR operation, after converting the three-component circuit with the converted luminance component back to RGB, adjust the luminance values of the pixels in each RGB channel without calculating the average luminance of each RGB channel.
EFFECT: improving the image quality and reducing the image noise.
