FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: method for thermal-oxidative cracking of oil tar in a continuous reactor at a high temperature is described. It includes supplying oil tar streams preheated to the reaction temperature to the upper part of the reactor and air to the bottom part, removing cracking vapours from the top of the reactor and the heavy cracking residue from the bottom of the reactor, separating of light products and heavy residue from the vapours by rectification. The process is carried out at 450-460°C and atmospheric pressure in the reactor, which is a vertical column device, in the upper part of which there is a layer of inert packing with a height of at least 1/10 of the total reactor height.
EFFECT: reduction of the air consumption and of costs for separation of light products from cracking vapours.
