FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing rutilizing germs involves the structural transformation of hydrated titanium dioxide by using heat. Heating is subjected to hydrated titanium dioxide and carried out at a temperature of 50-250°C. To the resulting powdered material, a modifier in the form of zinc oxide, zirconium oxide or salts of these metals in an amount of 1-10% with respect to the mass of TiO2 in hydrated titanium dioxide. The mixture is then ground using a high-speed drum mill for 1-4 hours at a drum rotation speed of 650-750 rpm. After this, water is added until a mass ratio of T:H=1:(2-3.5) is achieved and the grinding is continued for 2-8 hours at a drum rotation speed of 350-600 rpm.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain rutilizing germs in the form of a stable suspension with a rutile content in the target product up to 93,4%, excluding the use of environmentally harmful reagents.
