FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for borating a steel component involves preliminary preparation of a powder mixture, applying it to a hardened surface, heating and saturating the surface with boron in an argon protective medium at excess pressure (Pex.), which is 100÷200 Pa. The powder mixture has the following composition, wt %: boron carbide 80÷85, calcium silicide 3÷5, drill 5÷7, cryolite rest. Heating of the part with the applied powder mixture is carried out by high-frequency currents up to a temperature of 1200÷1300°C for 90÷120 sec.
EFFECT: intensification boriding process simplification and increase coating thickness to 250-350 microns microhardness - up to 2400-2800 HV and its relative wear resistance in 7,5-10 times.
