FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for production of coating from intermetallides formed in iron-aluminum system by induction surfacing on surface of steel and cast-iron parts. Method is carried out with formation of coating in inert gas medium by simultaneous application of aluminum and iron, for which on steel surface coating is formed with composition 2–3 mm thick, containing mixture of intermetallic compound Fe2Al5, boron carbide, flux based on processed borate flux P-0.66 and cryolite, with following ratio of ingredients, wt%: Fe2Al5 intermetallic compound 1÷5, flux P-0.66 7÷10, boron carbide 70÷75, cryolite – balance. Molten composition with formation of coating is carried out by high-frequency electromagnetic field at temperature of 1,150–1,250 °C.
EFFECT: method provides higher hardness and wear resistance of the part hardened surface.
