FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely, to melting of borated steel in induction furnaces. Method involves preparation of a charge consisting of a flux-bearing and a metal part with alloying components, and its filling into an induction furnace. Prior to filling in induction furnace in pieces of metal part of charge there made are blind cavities, which are filled with a composition containing alloying components, including boron carbide and flux, in an amount required for recovery of boron from alloying components, wherein to total weight of said composition cryolite is added in ratio of 8–16 %.

EFFECT: invention enables high-speed steel boron cutting without using expensive ligatures and specially melted alloys containing boron.
