SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in ophthalmology, neurosurgery, maxillofacial, reconstructive-reconstructive and plastic surgery for differential diagnostics and determination of the cause of displacement of the anterior borders of the eyeball, musculoskeletal stump (MSS) and the locomotor system - eye cosmetic prosthesis (LMS-ECP). To clarify the cause of exo- or enophthalmia using the tools of the RadiAnt DICOM Viewer software on the tomograms, a straight line is created through the apices of the styloid processes of the temporal bones and automatically duplicates it on all sections, sequentially measuring the length of the eyeball, LMS and/or the LMS-ECP from the maximum protruding point of their front surface to the rear pole (loc), The distance from the posterior pole of the eyeball or LMS to the vertex of the orbit (lorb) and from the vertex of the orbit to the reference line (lcer), connecting the apexes of the styloid processes of the temporal bones, then a stepwise comparison of the three segments (loc, Lorb, Lcer) on the left and right sides, the difference in the length of the ocular component indicates that the exo or exophthalmos is caused by a change in the length of the eyeball, LMS or the complex LMS-ECP; difference in the length of the orbital component - a change in the volume of the retrobulbar orbital tissues and/or anatomy of the orbital bones; the difference in the length of the cerebral component is the displacement of the orbital bones and/or the pathological process in the brain.

EFFECT: method allows to speed up the diagnosis of the cause of the displacement of the front borders of the eyeballs, the locomotor stump or the locomotor system - an eye cosmetic prosthesis due to the use of spiral computed tomography and special software tools.
