SUBSTANCE: method of controlling banknotes in stubs or bundles includes recognizing the serial numbers of the processed bills in the recognition device, storing and transferring this information to the memory device; formation of the list of serial numbers of the processed bills; validation and counting of notes with the subsequent preservation and transfer of information on serial numbers, denominations and the status of validated banknotes; correction of the previously formed list of processed bills by excluding the serial numbers of the bills that have not been validated from it, saving the final list of the serial numbers of the bills that have been validated with the preservation of information about the denomination and the status of the bills. Information about the time and place of processing of the data of the notes is fixed; the formation of roots or bundles of banknotes in a packaging device; applying to the packaging material stored information transmitted from the memory device to the information-applying device in a machine-readable form.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of identifying the processed bills and monitoring their movement in the financial system.
