FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalytically active catalyst component, to a process for ammonia oxidation in the Ostwald process in the presence of this catalytically active component and its application for selective ammonia oxidation. The ammonia oxidation catalyst with a refractory carrier phase and a single-phase catalytically active oxide comprises stable, single phase oxides based on oxide systems doped with yttrium orthocobaltate with the general formula YCo1-xMxO3, where X is greater than 0 and less than 1, and M is iron or titanium, or the single-phase oxide has the general formula YCo1-xMnxO3, where X is greater than 0 and less than 0.5. Method for ammonia oxidation in the Ostwald process includes conversion of a gas mixture containing ammonia and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst.
EFFECT: catalysts are more stable and have improved selectivity.
