FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mass-spectrometry, mainly for space research and for use in other fields in the conditions of rigid limitations of weight and dimensions. Time-of-flight mass spectrometer has an ion source with a non-linear accelerating gap made in the form of a set of annular electrodes, a receiver and an ion source.
EFFECT: invention allows increasing resolution of the instrument due to reduced time dispersion of ion packets in the plane of the receiver.
