In the method for passively determining the coordinates of radiation sources, comprising receiving a signal by a wide-aperture receiving system of M spaced antennas (M≥3) in the Fresnel zone, pre-processing, setting the display field with boundaries «αmin, αmax; Dmin, Dmax ", and with the coordinate grid "direction α - range D":: αр, Dq (р=1, …Р, g=1, …Q), with the boundaries of the observation field "αminpmax; Dmin≤Dq≤Dmax" and P×Q-channel inter-antenna processing, with a coordinate grid and linear scales α (degree) and D (meter), new features are introduced: for each pq-th cell of the indicator table, a virtual focus point of the receiving system Rpq with coordinates <αр, rq>, coinciding in direction with αр and differing in range: rq≠Dq, but connected with Dq by a non-linear dependence, the receiving system is focused to the point Rpq, an indicator table is formed, for which in each pq- th cell determine the values ​​of cross-correlation CmnmnR(pq)) of all pairs of antennas and read the values ​​of the measured PVCF Cmn(τ) at the points τ=τmnR(pq), filling with these values ​​the cells of the indicator table by summing the index mn of the doubled values CmnmnR(pq)) and output values ​​of the quadratic detection of signals from the antenna outputs and the thus obtained indicator table is displayed on the indicator with a coordinate grid and scales, and the coordinates of the radiation sources are determined by the position of the main maxima of their signal marks on the scales of the coordinate grid.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the range in the presence of several sources and the efficiency of the observer by increasing the resolution of signal marks of radiation sources on the indicator pattern of a passive sonar, its constancy and symmetry of the main maximum over the entire specified range range in the near zone of the radiation source field (Fresnel zone), without changing cross-sectional shape of the signal mark in the direction and without reducing its level.
