FIELD: computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automation and computer engineering and can be used in designing intelligent systems of computer vision, video surveillance, video monitoring. Disclosed is a method of detecting objects, determination of their geometric shape and orientation on images. Method is based on initiation of adjacent frames in previous and current time intervals, subtracting constant component of brightness of frames, measuring energy spectrum of said frames and their presentation in form of Si, j-matrix, elements of which are decomposition coefficients of energy spectrum of image in two-dimensional Fourier series at on cosines. Under condition of detection of an object, three coefficients of matrix of current frame are obtained, compared to reference matrix coefficients, previously stored in a database, and geometric shape of detected object is determined. At ratio of coefficients of matrix of current frame to each other, orientation of object on an image is determined.
EFFECT: high information value when detecting an object in current frame of video sequence by determining geometric shape of detected object and its orientation on image.
