FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: samples of grains or seeds to be investigated are placed in the stream of x-rays. Exposition by x-ray radiation is carried out. The x-ray image visualization is registrated on the media, with the subsequent reading of the information and its computer processing. Wherein samples of grains and/or seeds are previously selected from the batch and fixed in a single layer on 10 sample holders, no less than 100 pieces per each sample holder with a distance of not less than 1 mm between the grains or seeds. The sample holders are alternately placed between the x-ray radiation source and the x-ray radiation receiver. Each x-ray image is processed on the scanner with the simultaneous transferring to the computer. Ten electronic images are obtained, which are simultaneously processed with the use of the software product, in case of identifying at least one contaminated grain by the program. All images are checked for the presence of insects larvae and pupae in the cavities of the grains. In case of the visual identification of the insect larvae and pupae inside the grain, from the 10 sample holders those are selected which contain such grains, and for revitalization of living insects the sample holders with grain are maintained in the oven at the temperature of 37-40°C for 4-6 minutes. Then the sample holders are again placed in the stream of x-rays, wherein the presence of living pests inside the grain at the double radiation is determined visually by the change of the insect posture inside the grain.
EFFECT: improved accuracy and reliability of detecting hidden contamination of grains or seeds resulting from damage by insect pests of grain stocks.
