SUBSTANCE: device (1) for cooking a food product on steam comprises the base (2) and at least one basket (5, 6, 7) for containing a food product to be cooked on steam, having the bottom part (51) containing the openings (53) for passing the steam into the food product, wherein at least one basket (5) is intended to be positioned above the base (2) and wherein the base (2) comprises the steam chamber (25) for containing water to be converted into steam and the heating means (23) connected to the steam chamber (25) for heating the water which is inside the steam chamber (25).
EFFECT: device provides the steam generation at high startup efficiency by minimizing heat losses from the steam chamber.
