SUBSTANCE: method of using an aerosol-generating device (10) comprises the following steps: a heating element (90) of the aerosol-generating device contacting with the aerosol generating substrate (30), the heating element (90) temperature raising to the first temperature for heating the aerosol generating substrate (30) sufficiently and aerosol formation, extraction of the heating element for contact stop with the aerosol generating substrate, and heating of the heating element to the second temperature which is higher than the first temperature for the thermal release of organic materials attached or deposited on the heating element. Aerosol-generating device (10) version comprises a heating element (90) connected to the controller (19) for heating the heating element and to the first temperature to the second temperature.
