SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating device, which includes a heating element connected to a controller, wherein controller is programmed to actuate heating element to implement first thermal cycle, at which temperature of heating element is increased to first temperature to form aerosol from aerosol-forming substrate, located near heating element, and wherein controller is programmed to actuate heating element to implement second thermal cycle, at which temperature of heating element is increased to second temperature above said first temperature, for thermal release of organic material, attached or deposited on the heating element, wherein the controller is programmed to actuate the heating element for the second thermal cycle automatically, when aerosol-forming substrate is removed from contact with heating element.

EFFECT: technical result consists in providing cleaning of heating element.
