FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: gas-tight joint seal of the internal combustion engine comprises an annular sealing gasket (3) of a rectangular cross section made of steel with a hardness lower than the hardness of the material of the cylinder liner and cover and mounted between the sealing surfaces of the cylinder liner (2) and the cylinder cover (4). On the sealing surfaces of the cylinder liner (2) and cover (4) protruding denticles of triangular cross-section are formed, which are pressed into the gas-tight joint gasket body, when the cylinder liner (2) and the cylinder cover (4) are fastened to the cylinders' block by studs. On the working surfaces of the gasket, at the contact points with the denticles, annular grooves of a rectangular cross-section are made with a width Ba, equal to 1.2 times of the denticle base width Bd and the depth Ha, equal to 0.25…0.35 of the denticle height Hd.
EFFECT: ensuring the guaranteed closure of the gas-tight joint across the entire area of the gasket.
