FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the combined preparation of 2,3-dialkyl-2-cyclohepten-1-ones (1) and 2,3-dialkyl-2-cycloheptene-1,4-diones (2) of the general formula and R = C3H7, C4H9, which are of interest as initial synthons for the creation of biologically active compounds for medical purposes, exhibiting antiviral, antifungal, antitumor properties. The method is that the dialkylacetylenes of the general formula R-C≡C-R, where R=C3H7, C4H9, is reacted with glutaric acid methyl ester in the presence of magnesium (Mg, powder) and a catalyst Cp2TiCl2, at a molar ratio RC≡CR: CH3CO2(CH2)3CO2CH3: EtAlCl2: Mg: Cp2TiCl2 = 10:20: (40-60):(40-60):(1.8-2.2), the reaction is carried out in tetrahydrofuran under argon at 60°C and atmospheric pressure for 4-8 hours.
EFFECT: method allows to obtain the desired products with a yield of 60-82 percent.
