FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: sample of sapropel is treated with alkali at a concentration of 3.5%, the resulting solution is separated from the insoluble silicate-containing part, the silicate-containing part of the sapropel is dried, and the resulting filtrate is treated with 20% hydrochloric acid at pH 1÷2. The formed humic acid precipitate is separated, washed and dried at a temperature of 70÷80°C. The dried silicate-containing part is treated with a 3% HCl solution to pH 1÷2, decanted, washed with water and dried at a temperature of 70÷80°C. The silicate-containing portion is then maintained at a temperature of 300÷350°C in air for 30 minutes and the resulting silicate-containing support is treated with a solution of polyhexamethyleneguanidine, washed with water, and then treated with a solution obtained by dissolving a precipitate of humic acids at pH 8÷9, washed with water and dried at a temperature of 70÷80°C.

EFFECT: obtaining efficient sorbent of sapropel, in particular for the adsorption of copper ions from solutions.
