FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer has a density (D) in the range of from 0.900 to 0.940 g/cm3, Melt index MI2 (2.16 kg, 190°C) in the range of 0.01 to 50 g/10 min, the melt index ratio MI2 and rheological index Dow (RID), satisfying the equation [RID/MI2]>2.65, and the incident drop sharpness test (IDST) strength in grams for a 25 micron blown film obtained from said copolymer satisfying the equation: IDST≥19000×{1-Exp[-750(D-0.908)2]}×{Exp [(0.919-D)/0.0045]}. The copolymers of ethylene and alpha-olefin are obtained by slurry polymerization in the presence of a metallocene catalyst system, preferably in a multi-stage process.
EFFECT: derived copolymers of ethylene and alpha-olefin are improved mechanical properties such as strength when tested falling sharp object, after extrusion as a blown film.
