FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of decoding a video signal includes: receipt of differential coefficients relating to the current block and conversion skip mode index for the current block of video signal. The conversion skip mode index indicates the conversion skip mode for the current block. The conversion skip mode index is obtained for both the luminance component of the current block and for the chrominance component of the current block; obtaining the inverse quantized difference coefficients by performing inverse quantization of the difference coefficients; determining, based on the conversion skip mode index, the conversion skip mode for the current block among the candidate modes for the conversion skip mode. The candidate modes for conversion skip mode include, at least, one of the following modes: two-dimensional conversion mode, horizontal conversion mode, vertical conversion mode, and non-conversion mode; obtaining a difference block related to the current block from the inverse quantized difference coefficients of the current block based on the thus defined conversion skip mode for the current block. The conversion skip mode for the chrominance component of the current block is determined regardless of the luminance component of the current block.

EFFECT: increasing the conversion efficiency and compression of video information.
