FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines equipped with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). A method for the engine (10) is that the estimate an accumulated amount of condensation on the basis of the number formed by the condensate and the amount of vaporized condensate in the cooler (146) or (158) exposed to exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) of the engine (10) during a predetermined time duration. EGR flow is increased in response to the estimated amount of accumulated condensate in the cooler EGR. Invention discloses versions of described method for engine.
EFFECT: improving the accuracy of determining the amount of condensate that is actually stored in a cooler.
