FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines with air heaters. Method for engine is that it adjusts the actuators of the motor based on one or more parameters. Parameters include the amount of water accumulation and the water accumulation rate in the charge air cooler (CAC). Water storage capacity, the water accumulation rate is determined in virtue of the output of the oxygen sensor located downstream of the CAC, ambient humidity, and a certain value of the exhaust gas recirculation flow (EGR). Method for engine and engine system are disclosed.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing the condensate accumulation in the charge air cooler.
