FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: glass-forming materials are supplied into the first molten bath; the said glass-forming materials are heated to produce liquid glass. Downstream of the melting bath, the prepared liquid glass is passed to the heating bath. The liquid glass is heated in the second heating bath with metal walls not covered with heat-resistant insulating materials, from inlet temperature (T1) to output temperature (T2), which is higher than temperature T1 at least by 50°C, by means of submersible burners. The metal walls of the heating bath are cooled by the coolant circulation in the internal piping system. The heating bath has an outlet for liquid glass in the form of overflow, which limits the glass melt height in the heating bath to a value from 20 mm to 300 mm, preferably from 50 to 200 mm and, in particular, from 70 to 120 mm.
EFFECT: reduced energy consumption.
