FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a device for melting a mixture of starting materials for producing glass fibre. Disclosed is device (1) for melting a composition of initial glass materials, configured to produce glass wool, textile glass fibre and/or sheet glass, comprising melting chamber (2) equipped with at least one submersible burner (3), and drain (10). Melting chamber (2) is formed by side walls (4) of heat-resistant material, the fire resistance of which is equivalent to at least 1500 °C, and metal hearth (5) which is not protected by heat-resistant material, to which said burner (3) is attached and which crosses the network of pipes made with possibility of circulation of the cooling fluid medium.
EFFECT: reduction of thermal losses and accordingly increase of furnace energy efficiency.
