FLOWER CATHETER FOR VENOUS AND OTHER TUBULAR AREAS MAPPING AND ABLATION Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61B18/12 A61B5/408 A61B5/42

Abstract RU 2633325 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: catheter adapted to operate in a tubular structure in or near the heart contains: an elongated catheter body and a distal junction. The elongate catheter body has a proximal and distal end and at least one lumen extending longitudinally through it. The distal junction is removed from the catheter body and comprises at least two branches, each having a free distal end and a proximal end fixed to the catheter. Each branch includes a distal end electrode and at least one annular electrode. Each branch has a supporting arm adapted to support the branch, generally in an L-shaped configuration, so that the free distal end of each branch is radially outward from the proximal end when the branch is in the neutral position, and generally in the U Shaped configuration so that the end electrode and at least one annular electrode of each branch are simultaneously in contact with the tubular structure tissue when the distal junction is located in the tubular structure. A method for ablation of a tubular structure in the heart comprises: insertion of the distal junction of the aforementioned catheter into a tubular structure; setting of the distal junction, so that the end electrode and at least one annular electrode of each branch are simultaneously in contact with the tissue; voltage supply to one of the group of end electrodes and at least one of the annular electrodes to perform tissue ablation along the first common perimeter; determination of tissue electrical activity by the other end electrode and at least one annular electrode along the second perimeter.

EFFECT: optimum contact of electrodes with the tissue due to L-shaped configuration of branches in neutral position, which provides optimal angles at which branches bend into U-shape.
