SUBSTANCE: method of measuring the range inside the reservoir includes transfer of asymmetric time changing signal from the transmitter (114) located inside the well trunk (106), into the formation. Asymmetrical changing in time signal may have a characteristic signal, at least, in part based on borehole characteristic. A receiver (110) located inside the well trunk (106) can measure magnetic field induced on the object (103) inside the reservoir, using asymmetric changing in time signal. The direction to an object (103) from the well trunk (106) can be defined, at least, in part based on the measurement of the induced magnetic field.
