SUBSTANCE: method includes positioning of at least one of the following: the transmitter and the receiver within the first downhole. At that at least one of the transmitters and receivers comprises the magnetic monopole, generating the first magnetic field by the transmitter, measuring the signal by the receiver corresponding to the first magnetic field, and determining at least one downhole characteristic by the signal received from the control unit, communicative coupled to the receiver. Wherein the mentioned at least one downhole characteristic includes the determination of at least one of the following: the distance between the transmitter and the receiver, and the location of the receiver relative to the transmitter.

EFFECT: exact determination of he receiver location relative to the transmitters and determination of the distance between the transmitter and the receiver by using the transmitter or the receiver, containing the magnetic monopole.
