FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: to diagnose reactivity and blood flow deficit of vertebral arteries of patients with clinic of vertebral-basilar insufficiency to a patient, colour flow mapping of vertebral arteries is performed in the prone position, from the access of the angle of the lower jaw bone linear and volumetric velocities of blood flow along the vertebral arteries in segment 3 are registered, the average blood flow velocity is determined, a test with a patient's breathing delay for 30 seconds is conducted, the changes of volumetric, linear velocities of blood flow and average velocity of blood flow after the sample are registered, the reactivity index of the vertebral arteries is calculated by the formula: RI=V2-V1/V2⋅100%, where RI is the reactivity index; V1 - average velocity of blood flow before the sample; V2 - average velocity of blood flow after the sample, then the vertebral artery is examined from the other side and if the value of RI less than 30% and the total volumetric blood flow of two vertebral arteries less than 250 ml/min the low reactivity and the deficit of blood flow in vertebral arteries is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method allows to choose an adequate and full-fledged method of vertebral arteries revascularization with simplicity and accuracy of determining the reactivity and blood flow deficit in them.
