SUBSTANCE: according to the optical method for monitoring containers (2), at least, one image of each container (Ii) is taken; at least, one searching zone (Zr) in each container image is determined, wherein, at least, one visible structure (3) appears in the said searching zone (Zr); a digital mask (Mi) is prepared for, at least, image processing zone (Zt) including, at least, one visible structure (3); at least, each pixel of the image processing zone is compared with the digital mask (Mi). The method includes the steps of selecting, at least, one visible structure (3) belonging to the container; determining the position and orientation of the selected visible structure (3) in the said container image searching zone (Zr); applying a geometric transformation (T) for the digital mask (Mi) or for the processing zone (Zt) so as to allow the mask (Mi) and the processing zone (Zt) to be positioned during the processing step to coincide; and applying image processing for each pixel of the processing zone (Zt). Processing depends on the intensity value of the digital mask coincident pixel (Mi).
EFFECT: increasing economy, convenience and reliability.
