FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: in a method including irradiating a dielectric object with coherent microwave radiation on a frequency set, registering a signal containing information about the dielectric permeability of the object, after passing the object signal via a registration channel containing registration means, and coherent processing of the detected signal, according to the invention, the object is irradiated with several transmitting elements located at different space points. The signal registration of each transmitting element is carried out by the corresponding registration means, and a plurality of optical path elongation values is determined, corresponding to the determined pair transmitting element - registration means on the frequency set, while processing the detected signal. Then, the distribution of optical path elongation density is calculated by inverse projection method, continuous three-dimensional sections with similar optical path elongation densities are extracted by three-dimensional image segmentation method, then the dielectric permeability of the ε dielectric object in the section of one of the coordinate system planes is calculated by the formula:

where ρ is the average optical path elongation density for the dielectric object; Lx is the dimension along the x axis; Lz is the dimension along the z axis.

EFFECT: possibility of determining dielectric permeability of the dielectric object remotely, regardless of the possibility of direct manual measurement of its dimensions.
