FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method for expressly determining the protective properties of breathable protective filtering and sorbing materials for chemical vapour under various mass exchange conditions is to establish a time interval from the onset of the action of a chemical flow through a filtering sorbent material at a space velocity equal to the air permeability of the test sample in the vapour concentration. At the same time, the determination of the vapour concentration is carried out in real time without sampling and sample preparation by successive cycles of registration and processing of absorption spectra in the air flow by IR spectrometry in the range from 0.1 ppm to the saturated vapour concentration, calculate the values of the mass transfer coefficient βdin on each measurement cycle, and the obtained data is used to approximate the results to any other mass transfer conditions with an error of 10% by the formula τ=τdin⋅β*, where τ - is the time to reach a given concentration of a chemical substance for the determined conditions of mass exchange, min; τdin - time to reach a given concentration of a chemical substance under conditions of convective mass transfer, min; β* - mass transfer coefficient normalized to the required mass exchange conditions, rel. units.

EFFECT: development of a method that ensures the rapid assessment of the protective properties of air-permeable materials, the exclusion from the analysis cycle of sampling and sample preparation operations, the objectivity and high reliability of the chemical vapor detection results, the ability to predict the protective properties of materials for other mass exchange conditions with an error not exceeding 10 percent.
