FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: discrete microwave attenuator contains input and output three-decibel directional couplers, two matched loads connected to the ballast outputs of the input and output directional couplers, a digitally controlled attenuator and a stripline section. One of the working outputs of the input directional coupler is connected to the digital-controlled attenuator input, the other working output of the input directional coupler is connected to one of the terminals of the strip line segment. The output of the digital-controlled attenuator is connected to one, and the other output of the strip line segment is connected to the other working inputs of the output directional coupler. The input of the directional coupler is the input, and the output of the output directional coupler is the output of the device. The device is arranged to divide the signals into two channels, one of which includes a digital-controlled attenuator, and in the other a phase-compensating segment of the transmission line, followed by vector summation of the signals.

EFFECT: reduction of direct losses introduced by the discrete attenuator of microwave, reduction of the value of the discrete level of attenuation and reduction of the resulting phase change of the microwave signal in the range of introduced attenuation.
