FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: exhaust gas treatment method consists in contacting an exhaust gas containing excess oxygen and a saturated hydrocarbon with an oxidation catalyst and oxidising a portion of the saturated hydrocarbon to produce CO2 and H2O, wherein the oxidation catalyst comprises a noble metal on a support comprising, at least, 75 weight percent of zirconia, a stabilising amount of silica of up to 20 weight percent, and a stabilising amount of yttrium oxide ranging of 1 to 20 weight percent.
EFFECT: improved catalyst activity in oxidation.
