FIELD: exhaust or silencing apparatus.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a monolithic support with a zoned catalyst for controlling hydrogen sulphide gas generated in a lean NOx trap during desulphurisation of a lean NOx in trap in a wide temperature range in comparison with existing mechanisms of controlling hydrogen sulphide. Described is a monolithic support with a zoned catalyst comprising a first zone and a second zone, wherein the first zone and the second zone are arranged axially in series, wherein the first zone comprises a platinum group metal supported on the support, and a first base metal oxide selected from a group consisting of iron oxide, manganese oxide, copper oxide, zinc oxide, nickel oxide and mixtures thereof, or a first base metal selected from a group consisting of iron, manganese, copper, zinc, nickel and mixtures thereof, supported on an inorganic oxide, and the second zone comprises copper or iron supported on zeolite, and a second base metal oxide selected from a group consisting of iron oxide, manganese oxide, copper oxide, zinc oxide, nickel oxide and mixtures thereof, or a second base metal selected from the group consisting of iron, manganese, copper, zinc, nickel and mixtures thereof, supported on an inorganic oxide, wherein the second base metal is different from the first base metal, wherein the first base metal oxide or the first base metal supported on an inorganic oxide in the first zone is physically separated from the platinum group metal supported on the support, the first zone comprising a composition of a lean NOx trap, wherein the platinum group metal supported on the support is a component of said composition of a lean NOx trap. Also disclosed is an exhaust system for an internal combustion engine comprising (a) a lean NOx trap and (b) the above-described monolithic support with a zoned catalyst located downstream of the NOx trap; a device comprising an internal combustion engine and said exhaust system, and a vehicle comprising the device. Method for treating an exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine includes a step of directing the exhaust gas through said exhaust system. Method for manufacturing a monolithic support with a zoned catalyst comprises depositing the first and second zones on a monolithic support, using procedures for the preparation of a porous coat, in which the first zone is applied in the form of a porous coating on a monolithic support before the second zone is applied in the form of a porous coating.
EFFECT: technical result is the creation of a system that is capable of treating both NOx, and fine particles emerging from the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, also removing and / or converting unwanted emissions of hydrogen sulphide over a wide temperature range.
