FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention is a method for evaluation of small salivary glands (SSG) secretory function, which consists in application of a plate stained with methylene blue to the lower lip mucosa, followed by stimulation of the SSG function and comparing the optical density of the plate before and after stimulation, characterized by the plate being made of a transparent material and having a round shape of 1 cm2, double application of the plate is performed, the duration of each application is 5 minutes. After the first application of the plate, the mucosa is treated with 1 ml of a 1% aqueous solution of pilocarpine hydrochloride and 15 minutes have to pass, if the plate optical density before pilocarpine stimulation is 1.5 or more times greater than after stimulation, SSG secretion is not impaired, otherwise if the plate optical density before and after stimulation is less than 1.5 times - a severe degree of xerostomia is established.
EFFECT: increased informative value of the examination to detect a severe degree of oppression of small salivary glands secretion.
