FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for extracting metals of platinum group from sediments after clarifying acid dissolution product of voloxidised spent nuclear fuel includes oxidative transformation of the sediment, reduction treatment. Further, the reduced sediment is opened and the selective separation of platinoids from the resulting solutions is carried out. The result is the production of concentrated nitric acid solutions of platinum group metals (ruthenium, rhodium, palladium) with the specific activity value allowing their subsequent refining outside the protective zone.
EFFECT: transferring of more than 94,3 percent of sediments produced during acid dissolution and clarification of spent nuclear fuel to a nitric acid solution, extraction of more than 92,4 percent of the amount of platinoids contained in the sediments, return of plutonium contained in the sediments into reprocessing, purification of platinoids from fission products, production of rhutenium, palladium, rhodium concentrates.
