SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method and device for testing a voltage transformer (20). The proposed method includes the steps of: simulating a voltage transformer (20) using an equivalent circuit (30); determining the accuracy of the voltage transformer (20) with respect to the equivalent circuit (30) by evaluating the response to the test signal provided by the transformer (20); and automatically converting the specified accuracy into the transformer accuracy (20) associated with the operating state. Herewith the voltage (20) is determined for various loads, operating voltages and/or operating frequencies of the voltage transformer (20) when determining the accuracy of the voltage deviation associated with the equivalent circuit (30) and/or associated with the equivalent circuit (30). And then they are converted into a corresponding voltage deviation or corresponding phase displacement for the respective operating conditions of the voltage transformer (20).
