FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: piston ring (2) contains a working surface (4), which is bounded from above by the upper edge (3) of the working surface, and from below by the lower edge (1) of the working surface. Compressive stresses are created along at least part of the peripheral periphery of the piston ring at the upper edge (3) of the working surface and/or at the lower edge (1) of the working surface, wherein these compressive stresses are created by roller smoothing.
EFFECT: invention increases the fatigue limit of piston ring.
